You'll know you've got it bad when you see TV news articles showing some notes being counted and you're trying to read the serial numbers. (Found myself doing this tonight with a story about budget adjustments, they counted about 5 x $50 and 2 x $20 and yes, I looked as hard as I could).

I am Chris from the ACT. I have been putting aside the special coins for a while now and recently started trying to get more Pre Decimal / and a range of them to replace some that were stolen from my GF. I recently bought a 1938 Crown, which is in great condition. It makes me wonder if it is fake though. They are a big heavy coin, so I would think that many were not used daily. What do I look for ? I also just ordered some of the special Florins, and have recently bought several Kilo's of Pennies and Halfpennies. Still many gaps in the collection though.

Thanks for the welcome. I will try to Post up a Pic of the Crown later. Now for some Coin stories...... ( I like them ! ) Many Decades ago I was helping a Mate restore a 20's truck. In the engine, a Coin had been used to replace a welch plug ! When he Reco'd the engine, he left it as is. He also came across a wedding ring turned ( machined ) out of a Coin. I thought for my Woman's 50th I would get a Coin from my collection from the year of her birth. A nice Florin. Had nothing. After some research, I found out 1965 no Coins were made as they were getting ready to go decimal. I have also bought a number of coins I wanted from Ebay recently, I would prefer to swap with others though. I have extra 20 cents from the Centenary of Federation. ( Tassie ) I know this isnt a swap area, but I thought I would make mention that I would prefer to swap rather than sell to enlarge my collection. ( and help others do the same )

The image is part of Brisbane's Southern Morton Bay Islands. The image is looking south. It has been our home for 26 years on 12th of this month. The Gold Coast is in the hazy in the distance. Awesome image from my daughter in Chile.

Just put up the image again. Front, mid, green point on the N/E side in the heavily treed area, close to the end of the point is our waterfront home.
In the water area, front, hard left in a big square out from the two small island is our Snapper spot and most of them are 65cm to 75cm in size. Fish on Thursday nights. Great area for big , full mud crabs & there are spots for sandies as well.
A couple of years ago they turned this area into a marine park and the pro fishers were stopped from fishing and the sea life now pristine. Its unbelievable how big a change it has made to the fishing.

Hi guys.
Just checking in because of Mark's emails. Made me realise it's been forever, and so much has changed.
I do still go to Melbourne Numismatic Society meetings, despite being made homeless when my parents died a couple of years ago. I got lucky as far as support was concerned, and i have (an albeit temporary) roof over my head, a homecare package, carers, and a life filled with new friends, volunteering and so busy i need a PA/secretary i think. Even got written up in the latest issue of the Burwood Bulletin! :o
I haven't been in contact with anyone for years, except AJ and Goldy (who I really miss so much). My communications and mobility are somewhat constrained, so others need to reach out cos I can't really do it reliably.
And I've pretty much stopped noodling because I don't have a stable work or storage space. I really should start selling down what I've collected over the years so it doesn't end up deposited at a bank when I kick the bucket.
So yeah, I'm sorta back, but not like the old days. And the most reliable ways to get hold of me are email, messenger or mobile (incoming only).
