The Redcliffe Show

The Redcliffe Show is due to be held on 27-29th June at the Redcliffe Showgrounds.

My local coin club The Redcliffe Coin and Phonecard Club Inc. has decided to have a stand at the show and 2 of our members will have a stand selling numismatic items.

The club is going to promote coin collecting to our younger generation by giving out a small pack of coins (say 6) to school children.  It is hoped to generate more coin collectors in these youngsters.

If anyone has some spare coins they would like to donate for this please PM me.  The more we have the more we can give out.

Gee come on Barry I'm still getting over my trip to Kel's and back again this weekend with a bit of luck but can't make the show sorry so you'll have to get me a bag of coins Ok just joking but good idea so what sort of coins are you after mate??

Obviously we would not give away expensive coins, probably aussie and international used pocket change type coins would do....but if you want to send me a couple of your 1930 pennies, I would be happy to accept them.

once when I was on a coin club display at a show a guy came up and gave us a fair sized bag of world coins
so we used to let kids take a small handful for ages afterwards

most kids were happy enough to take one or two

it was the coin club members who pocketed the most!!

Well the show went for 3 days, Friday was busy but Saturday was dead.  Maybe the fear of bad weather put people off.

Sunday was busy but overall we gave out some 200 packs (each 12 coins) of coins to kids.

Let see if in the future we have sown the seed of a collector.
