1933 Overdate Penny

Interesting Coin,first time i've seen it in over 60 years of collecting 33 O/D's. I'll throw these pics up whilst its quiet.
Fairly normal early Die O/D with spike in the bowl but the first 3 seems doubled or something similar but at a loss how this can happen without affecting the other numerals.
Someone on here will probably know why or has come across it before...TIA

Most of them have doubling of the first 3 I believe.

Hi Basil.
Yes the hubbing boys at the mint had lots of adventures moving from 1932 to 1933.

Two papers to read.
1/ Paul Holland, JNNA Vol13 the overdate 1933/32 penny.
In this Paul explains in detail what happened and why, and types the various appearances of the wonky 3's.

2/ Fred Lever, CAB Vol 18-04, in this Fred agrees with Paul, shows lots of photos of appearances and makes up a dummy die punch to physically demonstrate in the workshop how the 3 covers the 2 as proposed by Paul.

Those two papers cover the lot.

Ok,Thanks for Info.,ive never noticed that before,i have a small box of 33 O/D's somewhere,including 1 with the stem(not spikes) in the lower bowl so will post when i find it.
I have included 3 Pics. of my readily available early Dies.,IIRC all my O/D are similar but i noticed there may be a slight doubling on Pic. 3.

Thanks Fred,i was trying to work out(without rabbit holes & sanity) how the first 3 was doubled but not the 1 or 9.
