collecting different date spacings etc

Out of curiosity, does anyone collect predecimal coins by date spacings e.g. the multiple different date spacings/alignments of 1911-1914 florins? Or even catalogue the coins you do own by the date spacing/alignment of the example you have?

It seems like certain coins get more love on this front (1922 penny and 1952 penny for example) but plenty don't.

I personally don't collect by date spacing or record which spacing it is regardless of the coin or denomination.

I wouldn't say I collect by date spacing's but often cherry picked when something interesting turned up. 1912 and 31 Florins come to mind as well as a few Pennies but can only think of one at the moment, the 1945 which has different spacing between 4 and 5. Maybe the 1941Y. with different spacing between 1 and 9.

I used to check all that out in my School Days as i couldn't afford key dates,examine everything for varieties/errors etc.,mainly copper but a little silver. These days i'm too lazy but i still have shoe boxes full of pre-dec errors/varieties,i will sort them again one day.
As an aside,even back then,early 1960's,99% of circulating coins were QE11,i kept everything with a Kings Head and still have most of them today.

I pay particular attention to hub dating varieties like the '34 wide sixpence. For differences due to individual working dies I pay less attention. Mainly because that occurred on early date coins and with for example 1914 florins my collection is very low grade and I'm happy if I can read the date, let alone determine little nuances in the digit slopes and spacing.

Okay I figured as much. Interesting to note but I wouldn't imagine most people are paying to have six nice 1914 florins that are all nearly identical.

I just realised that autocoupler said 31 florins. I know about the penny varieties but didn't know that there were florin varieties. What is the florin variety and how scarce is it?

Two 31's that I've seen, one has a 3 that is slightly tilted left, with the last 1 closer, the other has a more upright 3, with the last 1 further away. Not sure about the scarcity.
