1946 'thin'' Planchet.

I was wondering if there is such a thing as a 'thin' Planchet for 1946 Pennies. I found it in a bulk buy a while back,its the first Coin,the lighter coloured one. Its underweight and has a Planchet almost half the thickness of the normal 1946 on RHS. It seems well struck and genuine but may be a fake of some sort....TIA.

Gee ...... hard call Basil ..... I'd have thought such a thin planchet would not be struck so well. The top of the 6 looks a bit iffy, triangle inside the 4, fan on the right side of the 4 ..... crikey. But I shall wait for the experts to comment, I've only ever had one in the past.

Look at the second stroke of the u in aUstralia and how it lines up differently with the edge denticles

Ok,Thanks fellas. I think the Kings Mouth & Nose on the first coin are different to a genuine 46 as well.

Yes, the tail of the 6 stood out to me as well. Wouldn't be the first time a different numeral was used though

I've lost all confidence in dealing with these modern fakes,in hand it looks like a well struck 46 Penny except for the thin Planchet.

The 6 is all wrong - too square looking.
Rims are wrong - too weak for a 46 which has strong rims.
There is a flaw on the left of the P in PENNY which is an obvious sign of a fake.
