My PO owner HATES me for exactly that reason.

Same here. Local LPO operator actually upbraided me at the counter one day for not buying my postage there but just lodging mail there. Told me to go to PO in next town (30km away) to lodge my mail at the official Australia Post outlet. I was speechless.
Contacted AP and complained and he was reminded of his contractual obligations by the area manager.

New operators recently and, for a while, were telling customers they were going to refuse to lodge eBay satchels! They have gone quite on that now (after another customer complained up the line).

Of course, the franchise agreement is biased in favour of Australia Post but that should not be my problem.

Just a reminder -new rates commence next week Price changes - effective 31 March 2014
All the publicity has been about the basic letter rate going to 70¢. Have a look at the new parcel rates. Well above the rate of inflation since last increase less than 12 months ago! For example a small parcel (less than 500g) goes to $7.20 from $5.80 ( a little more than 24% increase).

Gee this all makes me very sad as it's the little people that get hurt as I like to send stuff to friend but it's getting beyond a joke now Surely we could support a new PO service as the yanks have two that I know of and maybe more!

We could, but people are intrinsically lazy and/or stupid, and will default to the old ways until the new ways grab them by the throat and themselves become the old ways.

Being horrified by the new PO Box rent (much more than the usual annual increase), I'm trying to decide now whether to ditch it before it must be renewed. A viable alternative is required, as I don't really want to use a street address.
