Is the fact that the writing on the 2x2 says SWAN DORRAR a givaway that the seller is Chinese? :laugh2: On a more serious note I'm not even certain that it would be easy to get a conviction for faking the swan dollar as they were never official coins (but the cops should check sleezebay daily for fake coins and promptly arrest the sellers for passing fake coins).

What is the legal situation?
Chinese copies of, for example, 1925, 1930, 1937 and 1946 pennies are on eBay with "copy", "replica" (or some such) shown as being stamped on them. They are actually shipped without the stamp and treated to look aged. Is it legal; to possess one of those or is it only an offense to try to pass one off as genuine?
And what about the only two demonetised Australian coins -the Holy Dollar and the Dump? Same as above (whatever that may be) or a different law?

The AFP and RAM say it's all a no go but neither will do anything about it so really it's a total joke :dash1: I have posted the AFP and RAM links on FB and basically got told admin don't care as they're above the law and RAM say to contact AFP and they don't wanna know so I guess just do what you want as it's a free for all.

8  Buying or selling non‑excepted counterfeit money or counterfeit securities
             (1)  A person shall not buy, sell, receive or dispose of, or offer to buy, sell, procure or dispose of, non‑excepted counterfeit money or a counterfeit prescribed security.
          (1A)  Subsection (1) does not apply if the person has a reasonable excuse.
Note:          A defendant bears an evidential burden in relation to the matter in subsection (1A) (see subsection 13.3(3) of the Criminal Code).
             (2)  A person shall not, with intent to defraud:
                     (a)  buy, sell, receive or dispose of; or
                     (b)  offer to buy, sell, procure or dispose of;
an excepted counterfeit coin.
Penalty:

                     (b)  in the case of a person, being a body corporate—600 penalty units.

I see what you mean, some crazy stuff going on. Florins that were described as copies albeit at the bottom of the listing, and sold for $10, look more authentic than others that sold for up to $2,000.

It's criminal if they have reasonable reason to believe they're fake.

If they got plethora of reports then they would have been required to investigate it.

If they got plethora of reports then they would have been required to investigate it.

This seller has been reported by heaps of people including myself on all of her fake coins.There is even a post on Facebook discussing it in detail and I'd say many from facebook have reported the seller as well so ebay has no excuse on this occasion.I don't think ebay needs to be shut down but just hauled over the coals after all there are many honest people trading on the site
