How are all the noodlers going?

My own searching has slowed right down.  Other things have taken priority.
It used to be an alnost daily activity, but has slowed to a few times a month.

I am still doing as much as the local CBA branch can supply. Around $1500 per week, on average, of 20¢, 50¢ and $1 coins. I have given up noodling $2 coins as finds are so sparse. That is the only Bank branch in town. I have to mark the bags I return otherwise they will give me ones I have already noodled.
Luckily the teller that usually serves me is interest in coin collecting and understands what I am doing -however every silver lining has a cloud; I will never get a round 50¢ from her!
If I go to Mudgee (the nearest town of any size) I will hit the change machines in the foyer of the new CBA branch but that would not be more than once a month.

I haven't noodled since Nov/Dec 2016.

The banks around my way don't like me asking for loose coin and I can't be bothered with the change machine in the walls of the banks.

Even the clubs with poker machines and loose coins have declined me exchanging dollars for dollars.

I only get to look at coins that come through my hands.

The change machines are excellent. I highly recommend them. I haven't done much noodling recently, because I've been trying to save my money for other things, but I'm hoping to ramp it up again over the next few weeks and months. I certainly don't want to wait for them all to appear in change, because that will take forever. At least with noodling, I have a reasonable chance of finding them while I'm still young. :winkextra:

Been nearly 2 months since my last noodle. Have the DT's but with a few other things going on at the moment (I think it would help if Christmas was re-positioned to some other part of the year!) it's looking like the next one could be a New Year project. :-/

Hi Hercules, nice list and I compared that with my book listing of die varieties in decimal to see if I had anything obvious missing, up to year 2010. I also have quietly noodled any thing that comes my way and the list is a heads up to educate me further. Funny thing, I have never seen a coloured dollar coin in my hand of any sort. I wonder if people just grab them from circulation hoping they will be worth something?
In the list there are just a couple of things that puzzle me, not being up with this new fangled decimal stuff:
1/ the 1994 50c, I thought the narrow date version was the scarcest?
2/ the 2014 50c "bubble", ok be easy with me, but what the hell is a "bubble"?

Hi Fred,

1) The 1994 narrow date 50c is the more usual coin in circulation with the wide date being rarer but still found in reasonable numbers. However, the opposite is true for the 1994 Year of the Family 50c PNC. In that case the wide date is the norm and the narrow date is the exception (and the latter seems to be reasonably scarce in the PNC).

2) Here are a few examples of "bubbles". Quite a few have appeared in more recent years on 20c and 50c coins.

:beg: Forgive me as it's been well over 12 month since my last noodle.. had withdrawals a few time but like many others just had way too much going on but will get back to it again one day.

Yes there's quite a few bubble coins, 2010 and 2012 20 cent and then quite a few different years and positions on the 50 cent and the crop circle behind the emu is probably the biggest one as it's double the size of the others.

Other rotation/upsets are found on 10 and 20 cents like the 2001 20 cent as I've found two of them and there's also things like 2008 20 cent missing claw, fat letters on the 2000 50 cent, gap year 20 cents as well so there's a few things to look for.
