Predecimal common date silver AU 55 or lower BULLION

Are PCGS GRADED Predecimal  common date  ( george 6 and elizabeth ) silver AU 55 or lower BULLION , or is the cut off point a lower grade

Any of the common date GeoVI and ERII below MS grade and above average circulated are worth only a small premium to bullion (for collectors) and only bullion value to stackers and dealers, they are the coins that I call nice but not worth slabbing. At AU55 I might go to twice the bullion price on GeoVI common dates but below AU50 I only bid perhaps a dollar/ounce above bullion.
The only reason to purchase such XF-AU common date slabs to any premium above bullion is to have a few examples of each circulated grade so when you pick up (or calculate what you will bid) the scarce dates (39 florin, 42M threepence) you will be able to accurately grade the raw coin.

AU50-58 Geo VI silver are not necessarily bullion other than the dates with massive roll finds but they aren't worth the slabbing fee in general.

Just because a coin wont grade AU55 or better doesn't mean that the coin is Not still collectable and needs to be delegated to the "Scrap" bin.
The vast majority or collectors cannot afford to buy high grade pre decimals and are quite happy to have a coin of a particular date to add to their collection regardless of its grade.
Just because a coin doesn't make the "Cut" at PCGS and should be scrapped or consigned to the bullion bin is just wrong on so many different levels.
