Some??? They're all like that. The majority of the standards they cohabited with are all covered in purple flecks too. Most of the flecks are loose, and can be brushed or blown off, but some are pretty firmly attached.

I received a C mintmark Coronation coin this week and I've noticed the purple stripes are significantly off centre. Probably still within their limits as it's within the outer concentric circles. But more off-centre nonetheless than I expected to see on a collector coin.

It is well off-centre, more than you'd expect in this day and age with all the technology available.
Asking people to dig deeper for 'collector' coins is apparently no guarantee of quality.

Its not a collector coin though. No extra effort is put into minting them. They just use different dies and wrap a bit of cardboard around them to justify charging six times more than they're worth.
A collector coin should be made to a
much higher standard, IMO.

Yep. And if its anything like mine, its just as crappy as the circulation ones. Hence my comments.

I haven't seen any of the C mintmark coins but I would have expected a lot less bagging than on the circulation coins as the presses are run much slower.

Just noticed that this is our most-viewed thread, by a longshot. That would seem to suggest a lot of interest from the outside world, wouldn't it? Hmmmmmm....

It's no great surprise. It's in the public forums and it's a coin that's been in the media a lot.
