Polyethylene is safe. Both LDPE (coin bags, ziplocks etc) and HDPE (milk bottles and such).
By the way, the difference in LDPE films really comes down to mechanical properties, not chemical ones. If the film is stretched during manufacture for example, the molecules align so it exhibits traits such as the way Armaguard bags tear easily in one direction but not the other. Pretty versatile stuff.
