I think it is terrible that another collector has to even pose that question if you like the coin & can afford it then go for gold as I have said before, I find the term granny bait derogatory and insulting to grannies (being one myself!! ha ha) and to the collectors who enjoy collecting the modern silver coins (14-07-2014, 05:52 PM)robbiegal Wrote: I think it is terrible that another collector has to even pose that question Thanks for that robbiegal. I am not really that ashamed of my fondness for the shiny new silver designs. The only reason why I am a bit wary is the drop in value later. I could potentially have gotten cheaper if I wait. I got to be careful though. If I buy everything that I like I would be bankrupt very soon. May be "kitsch" is better word. Kitsch or no kitsch - I like designs with coat of arms on them.

I rather like how they have done the date on the design

http://www.australian-threepence.com/coi...hday-coin/ "This Royal Arms was also struck onto a British 5 shilling Crown in 1960 seen below." That's why it's so nice. Designed by people back when they still have good tastes.

Today I bought some Granny Bait. The Perth Mint will release no more than 1,914 of The ANZAC Spirit 100th Anniversary Coin Series – First Convoy 2014 1/2oz Silver Proof Coin. I will be selling it I think.

As we age we lose three things, one is our memory and arrrrr I've forgotten the other two!
