The Australian Coin Collecting Blog has received a message through their Facebook page:

"Hi there - I'm producing Tony Delroy's Nightlife, broadcast on nationally on ABC Local Radio, 10pm-2am, each weeknight.

In our first hour tomorrow (10-11pm Syd time), we'll have coin experts Andrew Crellin and Stewart Wright joining us to help listeners with identifying, valuing and organising their coins.

To be honest I think a lot of us wouldn't have too much to ask as we're mostly all keen collectors and we often ask between ourselves to solve our problems/questions. Whether this is more aimed at the non-collector with old pennies covered in "green stuff" ringing in to ask what that is.  What do you all think? Can we brainstorm some questions -who's going to ring in???

Andrew is a member here, he might get the heads up if he reads this thread anyway

   You're probably right that it would be aimed at the novice or new collector or someone who has a stash of coins sitting at the back of
the cupboard.It might be worth listening to see who it flushes out and
what they have to say

A fellow in my coin club used to do this exact same thing, back in the 1980s - go on a radio show (in his case, ABC Local Radio in Brisbane) where people phoned in to "get their hidden treasure valued".

The trouble is, of course, it's even harder to give a valuation for something over the phone than it is to give one over the Internet - since there are no pictures, at all, you've got to simply make a best-guess (or, more likely, a worst-case-scenario) as to what the condition of the coins might be. So his sessions usually turned into more of a "coin/medal/token identification" thing, rather than offering much help in terms of value.

The experts they've brought in are both coin dealers, so I assume they're more experienced at doing that sort of thing.
